Civil Services in the Europe of Fifteen: Trends and New Developments

This work describes and compares the various civil service structures and organisations employed in the 15 Member States of the European Union. Unlike the first version, this edition takes the impact of European integration on the national civil services into greater account and tries to identify the common trends and developments. The authors first examine the processes in place for recruitment, career development, training, evaluation, remuneration, working time, pensions, labour relations, equal opportunities for men and women etc. They then question in what ways similarities and differences can be detected and whether and to what extent convergence processes are taking place in the various Member States and what new trends can be seen.
