Dr Katerina-Marina Kyrieri (EL) joined EIPA on 1 October 2007 as a Lecturer in Unit III "European Policies". She is a law graduate from the Democritus University of Thrace (EL). She has a Master's and PhD degree in European Union Law, obtained from the University of Nottingham (UK). She also did an internship at the European Commission (Employment and Social Affairs, Unit on Work Organisation). She is a visiting lecturer at the National Centre of Public Administration and Local Government in Athens. She is also a member of the Greek Bar Association (Volos), registered at the Larissa Court of Appeal. Before joining EIPA, she worked as a legal adviser to a Greek MEP at the European Parliament in Brussels. Her work included, among other things, attending parliamentary working groups and committees on employment and social policy issues, legal affairs, petitions and women's rights and gender equality; and drafting EP reports and opinions. She has presented a number of papers at various conferences in Europe and Latin America. She has been involved in a number of research projects by the European Commission such as demographic change and intergenerational solidarity, mediation and arbitration of labour disputes and has provided advice to individuals and local communities seeking financing through various Community programmes. Her fields of specialisation include European Union law (general and institutional developments, multi-level governance), European Parliament (internal organisation and procedures), legislative procedures (co-decision), immigration, employment, working conditions, social security and social protection, labour market trends and SMEs policies.
